USPA NEWS - For over five hundred years the success or failure of entire nations has been determined by a country´s ability to acquire, access knowledge, technical skills and transform them into strength and prosperity.

Leading historians all suggests that the West´s ascension was a direct result of its institutions and social practices for acquiring, employing, and retaining information and the technology that was ultimately produced. The development of communication, armaments, sea power, mercantilism and imperialism, science and astronomy, as well as bureaucracy and the management of information all link the history of global power to “˜knowledge and the collection of knowledge.´ What of the third world countries and their people that have little or no communication technology, no education system and no resources to change, who do they seek help from when a new and developing country is more focused on the primary goals of food and water? Organisations such as the World Health Organisation and the United Nations may work relentlessly to help with immediate issues of famine, medicine, immunisation and health issues but unless more organisations living in “˜Western Societies ´ are prepared to lend a hand to those globally effected by drought and famine , nothing will change, millions will die and keep on dying. The Horn of Africa is a region of Africa referred to as the Northern East Coast of Africa, drought stricken and impoverished for centuries. During the first and second World Wars it was used as command base for many invading armies and used as a strategic command post for Generals and their invading armies. 400 years on and Somaliland has enjoyed peace for over 25 Years but at a cost of famine, poor education, homelessness and the need to rebuild a war-torn country brick by brick, stone by stone. Somaliland for over 25 years has worked with the United Nations to rebuild its culture and maintain peace .

The Government of Somaliland is dedicated to providing stable, democratic governance for its citizens and fighting for their right to be recognised as members of an internationally recognised, independent country. In a scarred by violence and insecurity, its people have forged an oasis of stability, democracy and progress since declaring independence from Somalia in 1991. Despite Somaliland´s record of achievement and the clear will of its citizens, the international community still refuses to recognise Somaliland as a sovereign country. This restricts access to international funds needed to accelerate progress and denies the fundamental right of self-determination.

Founder of The Horn of Africa Relief Organisation Mr Samatar Hassan today announced that he now has enough educational books thanks to a donation from the Spine and Limb Foundation WA in Shenton park to fill a forty foot long shipping container. “ We are delighted to have such knowledge and information at hand to take to Somaliland for several schools and we are excited about what the future holds for these children as a result of the kind hearts and support of so many Western Australian´s. I would also like to acknowledge the work so many beautiful models are doing making a book for The Honda Shop in Perth to raise money for us to provide the equipment needed to give fresh water to villagers and we hope that next year many would be able to visit Somaliland as ambassadors from Australia and help work with our humanitarian projects.“ Said Hassan. Somaliland Land Committee leader and executive member of communication also representing the United Nations Organisation Mr Ali Ahmed said, “the enormous help from private hospitals in Perth who have donated unwanted medical beds and assisted in the shipping to Somaliland earlier this year has already saved lives. Doctors and volunteer medical staff with the UN in remote villages are extremely grateful.“

Founder Abdullah Musa´s father was honoured by Queen Elizabeth the second in 1945 when Somaliland was under the rule of the British Empire. Mr Musa´s father Mohamad Musa played a key role in the integration of peace and harmony between the sovereign state and its war torn people. I also had the honour of being officially appointed by committee of The Horn of Africa Relief Organisation and a member representative of the United Nations Mr Ahmed, that I was indeed acknowledged myself for the work achieved for the people of Somaliland as an original founder to the organisation back in late 2013. I was indeed delighted to be informed that the work I had done to date to assist in networking and project awareness had indeed contributed to the saving of lives in Somaliland. Leon Panetta once said , “Rising sea levels, severe draughts, the melting of the polar caps, the more frequent and devastating natural disasters all raise demand for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. If anyone would like to assist in humanitarian work with The Horn of Africa Relief Organisation and would like to assist financially here or in Somaliland please contact myself for details“¦.Namaste.
